What is the National Address (Wasel/SPL)?

The national address (العنوان الوطني) is Saudi Arabia's standardised physical addressing system, managed by Saudi Post (Wasel). Every building and unit in the country is assigned a unique address consisting of a building number, street name, district, city, postal code, and a 4-digit additional code. You need this early for CR, ZATCA, GOSI, and Muqeem; see also labor law and document attestation when onboarding staff.

Registration is mandatory for all Saudi nationals, iqama holders, and commercial entities. Without a registered national address, residents face blocks on iqama renewals, GOSI enrolment, government correspondence, and — for companies — CR renewals and Qiwa service access.

Why national address matters for CR & banking

Who needs to register a national address?

Saudi Nationals

Required for national ID renewal, Absher services, healthcare access, and government benefits. Register via Absher Individuals.

Foreign Residents (Iqama Holders)

Required for iqama renewal, GOSI enrolment, bank account setup, and Muqeem status management. Register via Absher Individuals.

Companies & Entities

Required for CR issuance and renewal, Qiwa access, GOSI employer registration, and all official government correspondence. Register via Absher Business or Baladie.

How to register a national address (individuals)

Log in to Absher Individuals

Go to absher.sa and log in with your National ID number and Absher password. If you have not registered on Absher, you must first activate your account using your National ID and registered mobile number.

Navigate to National Address

From the Absher home screen, select My Services, then National Address, then Register National Address. If you already have a national address, you will see Update National Address instead.

Enter your address details

Enter: Building number (4 digits printed on your building entrance), street name, district name, city, postal code (5 digits from Saudi Post), and additional code (4 digits from Saudi Post Wasel). If you do not know your postal code, look it up at wasel.com.sa.

Confirm on the map

Absher shows your address on a map preview. Confirm the pin matches your actual building location. If the pin is incorrect, adjust the building number or additional code until the location is accurate.

Submit and receive SMS confirmation

Submit the registration. Absher sends an SMS confirmation to your registered mobile number. Your national address is immediately active and will sync with GOSI, MOI, and linked portals within 24–48 hours.

How to register a national address for a company

Companies register their national address through Absher Business or the Baladie municipal services portal. The company national address must match the registered address on the Commercial Registration (CR).

Multiple branches

Companies can register a national address for each branch location separately. Each branch address is linked to the parent CR. Ensure each branch address is registered before applying for branch-level GOSI, Qiwa, or visa services.

Updating or correcting your national address

You can update your national address at any time through Absher. Changes take effect immediately in Absher but may take 24–48 hours to propagate to GOSI, MOI, and other linked portals.

Common national address errors — and how to fix them

Error: "Building number not found"

The building number you entered does not exist in the Saudi Post Wasel database. Visit wasel.com.sa, search your street and district, and confirm the correct 4-digit building number shown on your building or on the Wasel map.

Error: "Postal code does not match district"

Each district in Saudi Arabia has a specific postal code assigned by Saudi Post. Look up the correct code at wasel.com.sa by entering your street name and city. Do not use a generic city-wide code.

Error: "Address already registered to another iqama"

This occurs when a family member or previous resident has registered the same building number. You can still register the same physical address — multiple iqama holders can share a building address. Use the same building number and your own iqama credentials.

The additional number (الرقم الإضافي) is the 4-digit code that appears after the hyphen in a Saudi postal code — for example, in the address 11564-3456, the additional number is 3456. It is assigned by Saudi Post (Wasel) and pinpoints a specific building or block within a postal zone. In Riyadh and all other Saudi cities, the additional number is required to complete your national address registration on Absher.
